Weaving together all the separate loose threads of the Pirin trilogy may seem an uncanny feat, and yet this is precisely Sebastiano B. Brocchi’s great accomplishment in the final volume of the trilogy, “The Gests of Nhalbar”, translated in English by Giovanni Carmine Costabile. Prepare yourself, o reader, to meet old and new friends and foes, prepare yourself to see them turn their coats, prove true, stand together or against each other, face many challenges, fight, and, above all, fulfil their fate in finding Wisdom. In the epic succession of trials and battles leading all the way up to a final confrontation of colossal proportions, every reader will understand what it means enduring the darkness until “the Coming of the Day.”
